Our messages this month will all be building up to Christmas. To more fully appreciate what Christmas is all about, it will be helpful to have a grasp of certain key components that make up it's backdrop. For centuries, Christmas has been a time of celebrating. But why is that? By the end of the month, we should all be better able to understand why.

November 22, 2009 - Pursue What is Right
Somewhere along the way someone switched the price-tags. God's economy and the world's economy are often far apart. This explains, in part, why 1 John 2:15-17 says what it does. We march to a different drumbeat as believers… at least, we should!

September 27, 2009 - Words Have Roots!

During the month of August our Sunday morning messages will accomplish at least two things. The five sermons will focus on some of the results that were compiled at our June PrimeTime where different ones in the church shared what there favorite verses of the Bible are and why. In addition to that, each week a different Pastor on staff will actually be sharing the message for that Sunday. Our intent is to help the congregation become better acquainted with each of the Pastors on staff.

Sooner or later all of us encounter times when we feel we're in over our heads. We're uncertain of the future. We're nervous about what lies right around the next corner. In recent years, there has probably been no time where those emotions have hit the level that they are now hitting in our country. Many thought the economy was going to bounce back after the first of the year. But now……who knows!?! In addition, marriage concerns, health issues and worry takes its toll. What is a Christian to do?

January 4, 2009 - What if you died tonight, would you be ready for eternity?
The message of Christmas still warms hearts after all these years. And it's no wonder. Because at the heart of that message is a love that surpasses anything we've ever experienced in our lives. Let's not allow the busyness of our lives, the planning of family gatherings and headlines in the evening news to take away from the beauty of the Christmas story. It's worth celebrating!

There are nuggets of gold all over the place in the Bible. Sometimes, in our reading, we zip right past them without slowing down to ponder them for all their worth. Over the next four Sundays we're going to slow it down a bit and carefully break down certain statements in Scripture that are packed with meaning. And as we do… don't be surprised if it seems that God is speaking directly to you!

March 9, 2008 - "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith."
Most of us would admit that parenting is one of the most important responsibilities we have. As dads and moms, we are shaping young lives. The irony is that the majority of us haven't really had any special training to do this, outside of our own upbringing (which may have left a bit to be desired). For four Sundays we're going to break down some of the critical aspects of raising children. This series won't focus on the theoretical as much as it will the practical dimensions of parenthood.

Where we are today at Crossroads Christian Church
We've all heard the expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. But it can also be said that “sometimes a sentence speaks volumes”. With that in mind, this December we're going to look at four one liners found in Scripture that contain some pretty important messages. At one time or another, we've all been guilty of being so focused on reading our quota of chapters on a given day that we miss some of the Bible's most convicting one liners. So together, let's slow down and look a little closer at what a single phrase of Scripture has to say.

When it comes to medical concerns, we always hear people advising the need for seeking a second opinion. Doing so can save a person the pain of an unnecessary surgery or provide for a speedier recovery from a particular ailment. Well…… perhaps the same advice ought to be given when dealing with emotional matters. We all know that certain feelings can eventually develop into attitudes which in turn can end up influencing patterns of behavior. There's a pretty clear chain-reaction that plays out in our lives. With that in mind, during most of July and August, we will be developing a series of messages entitled, “A Second Opinion”.

It has raised a lot of questions in people's minds, regarding what's fact and what's fiction. Over the next five Sundays we intend to answer many of those questions. We will both evaluate the claims raised in the book and review the historical evidence.
